Illegal parking around council sporting fields and reserves

26 Jul 2023 by Colin Newport

Hi Everyone,

Following advice has been received from the City of Whittlesea, Sports Club Liaison Officer.

Though there is only 1 round to go, for those people involved in finals, please take note of this information, as you will be at venues within the City of Whittlesea, other than the Showgrounds or Walker Reserve, and parking will be at a premium. That is not to say the authorities in adjacent municipalities will not be addressing this issue.

Please note that over the past 12 months, the City of Whittlesea Local Laws Team have engaged dedicated after hours and weekend parking officers to address feedback received by Councils surrounding growing concerns within the community regarding illegal parking. This has resulted in more regular patrols of the municipality, including regular monitoring of parking compliance around Council’s sporting fields and reserves.

At these locations, officers are enforcing vehicles parked outside of designated Council reserve car parks, designated overflow car parks as well as vehicles parked on reserves. In addition to this, officer’s will survey the nearby streets for any breaches of any signed or unsigned road rules.

The Sport and Recreation Team encourages all clubs to remind their members to adhere to the road and parking rules when attending all home and away games within the City of Whittlesea municipality.

If an infringement notice is or has been received by any club member, resident etc. we direct all to follow the appeal process located on the infringement notice to ensure this can be reviewed as per Local Law and parking regulations.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Kind Regards,

Jacinta Ganino (she/her) | Sports Club Liaison Officer
City of Whittlesea
